Evergreen Recycling

Evergreen Recycling is a Charlottesville-based recycling collection service. For twenty years we’ve helped make recycling easy for businesses, offices, apartments, schools, and non-profits.

Evergreen provides a source separate recycling service to guarantee your recyclables are turned into new products and not land-filled. We can create a recycling system that is easy to use and fits into the space you have.

Do you recycle for homes?

We do recycling for some estates. We are not always the best option for neighborhood recycling.

Do you do document shredding?

We do not. We did document shredding for many years. We sold that part of our business in 2019.

How do I know the materials are actually getting recycled?

We do source separate recycling, the method with the highest recycling recovery rates. Our materials go to the Paper Sort Building and the McIntire Recycling Center. Both of these are run by the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (RSWA) who are transparent about where the materials go. RSWA is able to sell paper and cardboard, as well as plastic 1&2 to Sonoco Recycling. All metals are sold to Gerdau. Glass goes to Strategic Materials in North Carolina. Plastic Bags (roughly a million per year just from Cville/Albemarle) go to a TREX facility in Winchester Virginia. They make splinter-free recycled plastic lumber for decking and benches.
